Benjamin C. Rosen, BA, J.D.

Ben, a US licensed attorney with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, has been advising foreign firms on the legal and business aspects of entering and operating in the Mexican market for over six years.


Since co-founding AmeriCompass in 2001, Ben has represented and assisted numerous public and private sector clients establish in and develop the Mexican market in sectors such as the environment, oil & gas, electric power, plastics, manufacturing, maquiladoras, housing, and joint venturing.


On behalf of AmeriCompass’ private sector clients, Ben acts as an advisor on legal, trade, investment, and project development related issues. Ben also provides clients access and representation before key authorities in Mexico, such as the federal Secretariats of Energy (SENER) and the Environment (SEMARNAT), PEMEX, and other federal, state and local bodies.


From 1999-2001, Ben headed the Mexico office of a Canadian-owned international business consulting firm, where he advised clients in the same sectors mentioned above as well as autoparts, internet and IT, health, and others. Ben also acted as the in-market trade representative for the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), based in Maryland, USA, as well as the Province of Ontario in Mexico.


From 1997-1999, Ben served as an international law consultant at the prestigious Mexican law firm Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados, where he counseled foreign companies on international business transactions and performed extensive contract drafting and negotiation involving multiple parties and jurisdictions, including joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, wholly owned greenfield projects, licensing, concessions & privatizations, as well as government bidding. Clients included Greyhound, Amway, Magna International, Paribas, Union Minière and Gaz de France.

Ben has authored articles published in highly regarded Mexican, American and international trade and legal media and has been quoted on Mexican affairs in authoritative newspapers such as the National Post (Ottawa) and the Washington Times (Washington, D.C.).

Ben is a frequent speaker before international audiences on trade and investment opportunities and regulatory issues in Mexico’s environmental sector. Ben is also an adjunct law professor at Mexico City’s La Universidad de las Américas, where for six years he has taught courses on United States Judicial System & Civil Procedure; and Legal Writing. In 2003, Ben was a guest lecturer before the Autonomous University of Mexico (UAM) Doctorate in Environmental Law program, speaking on US and cross-border environmental law.
